B i o g r a p h y

Cellist Rob Bradshaw has performed across the United States and Europe as a chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral performer. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Jubilant Sykes, Greg Sauer, George Crumb, the Grammy Award-winning Pacifica String Quartet, Laura Bossert, and Wayman Chin. Bradshaw has appeared as a guest soloist with the Fort Smith Symphony and performed on the Scissortail Chamber Music Series as well as the Brightmusic Summer Concert Series. He has premiered works by composers Amos Cochran, Anne-Vale Brittan, Rob Deemer, Patrick Conlon, and Marvin Lamb, and gave the debut performance of Brian John’s A Glimpse of the Philippines at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Bradshaw is principal cellist of the Fort Smith Symphony and is a member of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic's cello section. His diverse performance career includes engagements with Opera Fayetteville, the Newton Philharmonic, the New Philharmonia Orchestra (MA), the Norman Philharmonic, the Lawton Philharmonic, the Oklahoma Film Orchestra, and the rock group Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

He appears on multiple recordings, including: Amos Cochran: Live at the King Opera HouseLouis Ballard: Devil's Promenade, Fantasy Aborigine No. 3 with the Fort Smith Symphony (NAXOS), Florence Price: Symphonies No. 1 & 4 (NAXOS), two albums of the complete symphonic works of William Grant Still (Fort Smith Symphony and John Jeter), and the single "At Home" by Amos Cochran. These recordings have been broadcast on KUCO (Edmond), KCSC (OKC), KUAF (Arkansas), and SiriusXM Symphony Hall. Working with the Oklahoma Film Orchestra, he plays on the recording for the 20th Anniversary show for Celtic Woman and appeared as a cellist in the film I Can Only Imagine.

In addition to his performance career, Dr. Bradshaw is the Fine Arts Coordinator for Norman Public Schools. Previously, he taught orchestra at Longfellow Middle School, where he was honored as the 2022 Norman Public Schools Teacher of the Year and was a 2023 State Finalist for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. Other prior teaching positions include serving on the faculties of the University of Oklahoma, Mid-America Christian University, and the All-Newton Music School.

 

He served for 10 years as Executive Artistic Director of Scissortail Productions, Inc., a nonprofit chamber music series, which showcases talented young and emerging musicians and artists from across the state of Oklahoma.

 

Dr. Bradshaw holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma, a Master’s degree with distinction from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a Bachelor of Music degree with distinction from the University of Oklahoma. He performs on a 2003 cello custom-made by Oklahoma luthier Rocky Werning.
